West Kent Therapies is looking to recruit a full-time Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust's established inpatient community hospital team. This is a vibrant service that offers a friendly and supportive environment. The position is based in Hawkhurst Community Hospital, with some domiciliary visits in the local area.

The team consists of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and Therapy Assistants who work closely with nursing staff and doctors. Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust see patients with a wide range of issues, including:
- Musculoskeletal problems
- Neurological conditions
- Orthopaedic issues
- Complex co-morbidities
Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust's teams provide rehabilitation and moving and handling solutions for patients in their homes and in the community. You will work as a member of a multidisciplinary/multi-agency team, providing a high-quality service to adults with a wide range of physical, medical, or developmental challenges.
Main Duties of the Job
You should be experienced, motivated, and able to work autonomously as well as part of a team. You must be an HCPC registered Physiotherapist with post-graduate experience. Your role will include:
- Assessing, developing, and implementing evidence-based treatment programs for patients in their own homes, community hospitals, and other settings.
- Being an autonomous practitioner with responsibility for your own caseload, working without direct supervision.
- Providing support and information to patients, families, and all agencies involved in the patients' care.
- Supporting, training, and guiding junior staff.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- Degree in Occupational Therapy
- Registered with the HCPC
Experience
- 2 years of clinical experience with adults with complex moving and handling needs.
- Experience working with physios, therapy assistants, nurses, and the wider MDT.
Knowledge
- Ability to assess for moving and handling equipment for complex needs.
- Knowledge of specialist equipment and adaptations.
- Knowledge of advanced moving and handling techniques.
Skills
- Ability to communicate clearly with patients, relatives, caregivers, and the MDT.
- Ability to manage your own caseload in a busy community hospital environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to use IT to compile information and document notes promptly.
- Reliable, trustworthy, flexible, empathetic, and a good listener.
- Ability to drive in the UK.
