Job Summary
Working as a Prisoner Custody Officer (PCO) in Prisoner Escort Custody Services (PECS) offers the opportunity to be part of a team that makes a difference in the lives of others. This role includes significant responsibilities and the chance to develop a rewarding career.
Salary and Benefits
- Base Salary of £22,502 for 35 hours per week.
- Annual salary increment based on performance:
- Year 2 - £23,062
- Year 3 - £23,469
- Year 4 - £23,933

Working Hours
The role requires flexibility as it involves various early and late shifts across a 24/6 operational schedule. You will cover 35 hours per week with a rota provided 12 weeks in advance.
About the Role
As a PCO at Serco Limited's court, you will:
- Provide safe escorting and custody services to detainees.
- Ensure the physical and mental wellbeing of those in your care.
- Accompany defendants in courtrooms and cells.
- Manage searches of property and individuals.
- Ensure availability of food and drink.
- Complete necessary paperwork and data entry for daily records.
Requirements
Serco Limited welcome candidates with diverse backgrounds. Ideal applicants should:
- Possess a current valid driver's license.
- Be reasonably fit and have good communication skills.
- Have an interest in criminology or psychology.
Successful candidates will undergo a 5 1/2-week training course.
