Prisoner Custody Officer

Overview

As a Prisoner Custody Officer (PCO) in Prisoner Escort Custody Services (PECS), you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in your care.

Job Overview

Location: Snaresbrook Crown Court

Base Salary: £25,126 per annum (for 35 hours per week).

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and secure escorting and custody services to detainees.
• Focus on the physical and mental wellbeing of those in your care.
• Accompany defendants in courtrooms and cells.
• Search property or individuals.
• Ensure food and drink is available.
• Complete paperwork and data entry.

Salary and Benefits

• Starting salary of £25,126 per annum.
• Annual increments based on performance: Year 2 - £25,736 Year 3 - £26,302 Year 4 - £26,952

Working Hours

You will cover various early and late shifts, working 35 hours per week. Flexibility is crucial as the nature of the role may require different working arrangements and additional hours.

Requirements

• Commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.
• Current valid driver's license.
• Reasonably fit with good written and verbal communication skills.
• Interest in criminology or psychology is preferred.
