Overview

To develop and deliver clinical skills and vocational training programmes for multi-professional audiences in support of identified training needs within the Emergency Department. The role promotes patient safety through training programmes and coaching.

Main Duties of the Job

Education, Training and Development of Staff

  • Support ongoing Trust programmes, including corporate and local induction for both registered and unregistered staff.
  • Provide workshops for nursing staff and students to update their practice or learn new skills.
  • Deliver approved training programmes using handouts and presentations while continually reviewing methods based on research.
  • Ensure knowledge base is current and evidence-based.
  • Implement procedures for extending the role of the nurse and regularly revise the scope of professional practice.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop training programmes for clinical practice supporting the Trust’s Development Strategy.
  • Provide ongoing support and assessment of clinical skills ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Encourage sharing of good practice within the Emergency Department.
  • Conduct training needs analysis in collaboration with Emergency Department PDN.
  • Facilitate new clinical skills training programmes and design competency-based training.
  • Maintain educational governance standards from Health Education East of England.
  • Support newly qualified nurses during their preceptorship.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications

  • RGN with current NMC registration
  • Recognised assessing qualification (ENB998/MSPP/AET/PTLLS)
  • Up to date with ILS or ALS and PILS
  • Experience within an Emergency Department

Desirable Qualifications

  • ALS teaching instructor qualification
  • Experience in audits and innovative practices
