Overview

As an Interim Project Manager in Housing Repairs & Maintenance, you will play a crucial role in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of a program to reintegrate the repairs and maintenance service back into council control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day delivery of the project, covering 8 workstreams for a smooth transition back to the council.
  • Lead employee engagement activities, including workshops and internal messaging.
  • Support the Programme Lead, ensuring effective governance and management of workstreams.
  • Complete all due-diligence activities, making information readily accessible.
  • Drive stakeholder management and maintain communication based on the communications strategy.
  • Develop proposals for effective structures and lead consultation processes.
  • Provide project management expertise to major stakeholders, staff, and other agencies.
  • Monitor project progress, identify development areas, and manage risks to meet objectives.
  • Liaise effectively with Trade Union representatives and engage employees and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., law, public/business administration, finance, construction management) or equivalent practical experience.
  • Project or programme management qualifications (e.g., APM, MSP, Prince 2) or equivalent experience in managing high-profile, complex projects.

Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of repairs and maintenance policies and housing regulations.

Experience

  • Practical experience in building maintenance and technical knowledge of housing repairs.
  • Experience managing repairs and maintenance services at a head-of-service level.
  • Strategic-level experience in local government settings.

Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong project management abilities for complex change initiatives.
  • Effective leadership skills to motivate teams and achieve goals.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
