Overview

An opportunity to join the Woodfield team has arisen for dedicated and motivated individuals with a passion for supporting young people with special educational needs. Woodfield provides specialist SEMH education across Coventry between early years to the end of KS4. This role could be based at either primary or secondary, depending on the needs of the school and the abilities/experience of the successful candidate/s.

Work Pattern

37 hours per week, 39 weeks term time only.

Who are Coventry City Council looking for?

Coventry City Council is looking to appoint a highly motivated, empathetic, and resilient Pastoral Manager who has experience of working with children with special education needs, in particular SEMH. This person will have an understanding of SEMH and the challenges that this brings for children.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with families, individual teachers, and professionals to provide targeted personalized support.
  • Be a critical part of a developing therapeutic and pastoral team at Woodfield School.
  • Deliver small group and one-to-one interventions.
  • Manage an identified caseload of students and positively impact their development.
  • Collaborate with external professionals and families to achieve the best outcomes for students.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children who have SEMH needs, ASD, and ADHD.
  • Understanding of children's mental health and cognitive development.
  • Strong behaviour management skills.
  • Patience and empathy towards students with barriers to learning.
  • Knowledge of the 'Thrive' approach.
