Join African Community School and Make a Difference: African Community School're seeking a Project Officer to join African Community School's team at the African Community School (ACS). This crucial role supports the Programme Manager with administrative and data management systems, ensuring seamless communication between parents, students, and teachers.

Working Relationships:

  • Reports To: Programme Manager
  • Works Closely With: Trustees, Membership Secretary, Bookkeeper, Sessional Tutors
  • Key External Contacts: Local community, schools, children's centres, libraries, youth centres, parents/carers, voluntary organisations, and other relevant agencies

Contract & Benefits:

  • Term: 1-year fixed term (includes a 3-month probationary period) with potential for extension
  • Hours: 28 hours per week, spread over 4 days
  • Pension: ACS matches contributions at 5% of pensionable earnings
  • Holiday: 20 days annually, including bank holidays on working days. Holidays align with school schedules.

About ACS: African Community School works with the most vulnerable families in Hackney to support academic achievement, enable employability skills, and provide holistic family support. African Community School deliver a Saturday learning hub for young people aged 5-17 years that boosts learning, personal skills, and cultural knowledge, supporting Black and Global Majority children at risk of exclusion or excluded from school.

What You'll Do: As Project Officer, you'll play a vital role in supporting African Community School's mission. You'll:

  • Collaborate with the Programme Manager on programme management, evaluation, and reporting.
  • Design project plans, processes, and recruit/train volunteers.
  • Build new and existing partnerships, oversee student enrolment, and maintain accurate records.
  • Manage admissions for Saturday school, holiday programmes, and community classes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create promotional materials and manage website/social media.
  • Support ACS's strategic goals, using evidence-based practices.
  • Track project impact, monitor finances, and promote safeguarding and equality.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Professional Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Bachelor's degree (relevant field preferred).
  • Experience in project management and public, voluntary, or education sector work.
  • Office environments and record-keeping.
