  • Salary: £20,387 - £22,431 per annum, dependent on experience and qualifications.
  • Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Thursday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM & Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
  • Type: Permanent, Term time only.

As a Pastoral Support Assistant, you will connect directly with the brilliant young people Outcomes First Group care for, helping to ensure they get the very best from their education. Each individual has a diagnosis of Autism and may have additional needs. They have so much potential, and they will rely on you to guide their learning journeys tailored to them.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the subject teacher/tutor to ensure the delivery of a high-quality education for all students.
  • Provide relevant support to students, enabling them to access the curriculum independently.
  • Promote the physical, educational, and moral development of the students.
  • Assist in organizing the classroom and its resources to create a stimulating learning environment.
  • Collaborate with the teacher to write, update, and evaluate documentation for individual students.
  • Ensure student safety in line with risk assessments both on and off site.
  • Contribute as a member of the College’s multi-professional team.
  • Participate in the morning routine for students as part of the care team.
  • Keep up to date with educational practices and autism-related information.
  • Safeguard all students and ensure their well-being.

Experience Requirements:

  • Experience working with autistic spectrum disorders and/or challenging behaviors.
  • Experience within an education or residential setting.

Skills, Knowledge, and Aptitudes:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to record information accurately and maintain good organizational skills.
  • Ability to deal with complex and challenging behavior.
  • Empathy and basic IT skills.

Qualifications and Training:

  • Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Colleges.
  • Level 2 SEN qualification or willingness to work towards.
  • Commitment to undertake relevant training and further qualifications as needed.
  • Driving license is highly desirable.
