Brook Street is recruiting for a part-time contract opportunity at Oxford Magistrates Courts, with an initial contract until the end of December 2024, subject to extension.
An enhanced DBS check is required for this role.
Job Description
The Court Usher is an essential first point of contact for all court users involved in hearings. Responsibilities include:
- Collecting and delivering files and bundles to the judiciary.
- Providing support to colleagues and judiciary outside of court times.
- Conducting general clerical work, including using computers and switchboard.
- Filling out forms and operating recording equipment.
- Sorting and delivering lists of hearings for notice boards.
- Handling post and ensuring court rooms are supplied with necessary forms.
- Operating office and court equipment and handling telephone calls.
Skills and Experience Requirements
Ushers need to handle sensitive situations professionally and must be prepared to react quickly to unexpected circumstances. A background in administrative support and excellent interpersonal skills are essential.
