The role of Regional Control Desk Operator is crucial within the Channel Tunnel UK terminal in Folkestone. As a part-time opportunity, this position requires flexibility with shifts, which includes a 10-day rest period. Your responsibilities will include:
Job Responsibilities
- Supporting Counter Terrorist Border Policing Officers in identifying, disrupting, and examining persons of interest.
- Utilizing various policing IT packages to fulfill your duties effectively.
- Conducting investigative functions on individuals traveling through Kent.
- Collaborating with police officers and national units regarding security alerts.
- Managing and coordinating incidents within port environments under the direction of the RCD Sergeant.
Shift and Schedule
No weekend or evening shifts required. The position involves working within a control room environment that operates differently from conventional roles.
Salary and Benefits
The starting salary for this role is £26,385.00, with incremental increases up to £30,453.00 based on performance and tenure. Additionally, employees enjoy:

Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess the following:
- Efficient computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.

Skills and Experience
Previous experience with Athena, PNC, Storm, and PND is advantageous but not mandatory as training will be provided. An understanding of the UK Government’s CONTEST strategy and current counter-terrorism threats is essential.
Additional Responsibilities
Applicants must also be prepared for responsibilities that may involve relocation to a dedicated Incident Command Centre within the Channel Tunnel during significant incidents.
This role requires passing a security vetting process, necessitating British nationality and a continuous UK residency of the past ten years.
