Overview

Role Summary

As a Revenues Officer, you will assist in the maximization of local taxation revenue. Engage with customers and service users regularly on sensitive or complex matters, based on an understanding of policies, procedures, and legislation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Report directly to a Revenues Team Leader while providing a full enquiry service to customers, specializing in recovery, council tax, or business rates and valuation.
  • Effectively manage customer enquiries through face-to-face interactions, telephone calls, and electronic communications.
  • Maintain accurate records to ensure proper billing and collection of charges.
  • Communicate effectively with a diverse range of customers, challenging information provided when necessary in a professional manner.
  • Assist in preparing court summons, liability orders, and enforcement documentation.
  • Manage individual workloads, ensuring performance indicators regarding customer service and collection rates are met.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Strong previous customer service experience with the ability to handle difficult conversations and manage complaints professionally.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to remain firm yet empathetic towards customer concerns.
  • Highly motivated and resilient, capable of working in a pressured environment.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and a commitment to ongoing personal development.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and organize workloads to meet team needs.
