Job Overview

The Revenues service is part of the larger customer-focused Customer, Revenues & Welfare and Benefits service. North Yorkshire Council's purpose is to manage the billing, collection, and recovery of Council Tax and Business Rates to support local services.

Role Summary

As a Revenues Officer, you will play a crucial role in maximizing local taxation revenue. You will engage with customers and service users, handling inquiries of a sensitive or complex nature while adhering to policies and legislation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide full inquiry services to customers while specializing in recovery, council tax, or business rates.
  • Manage customer inquiries face-to-face, over the phone, and electronically.
  • Maintain accurate records to facilitate proper billing and collection.
  • Communicate effectively with a variety of customers, professionally challenging information when necessary.
  • Assist in preparing court summonses, liability orders, and other documentation.
  • Ensure key performance indicators and service targets are met.

Education and Experience Requirements
