About The Role

As a Senior Commissioner, you will collaborate with various stakeholders to transform services and deliver positive outcomes for Newham’s Autistic residents and those with Learning Disabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent the Council regarding Autism and Learning Disabilities, ensuring national and local priorities are reflected in commissioning decisions.
  • Oversee the refresh and delivery of the Adults Learning Disability Action Plan.
  • Ensure the effective delivery of the Newham Autism Strategy.
  • Lead the transformation of Supported Accommodation for Autistic residents and those with Learning Disabilities.
  • Proactively support residents and operational teams during transitions from childhood to adulthood by commissioning high-quality, value-for-money services.

About You:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • In-depth knowledge and experience working with Autistic individuals and those with Learning Disabilities.
  • Experience in the commissioning cycle and the ability to develop innovative solutions.
  • Proficiency in writing and presenting detailed reports and business cases to senior management.
  • A track record of achieving resident outcomes through effective management of staff, budgets, and services.
  • The ability to build long-term relationships and networks with local providers and residents.
  • Strong organisational and political awareness with a record of successfully influencing organisational change.
