Special Care Baby Unit Nurse

As a Band 5 nurse, you will provide family-centred, developmentally appropriate care to preterm and unwell babies in the Special Care Baby Unit. You will work towards your Qualification in Speciality of the nursing care of neonates and learn to manage the care of special care, high dependency, and stabilization and transfer of babies requiring intensive care treatment. Completion of Newborn Life Support training and Family and Infant Neurodevelopment Education (FINE) training is expected.
Main Responsibilities
You will manage all aspects of patient care, including:
- Assessing care needs and developing care programmes for babies and their families.
- Liaising with the multidisciplinary team to ensure family-centred care.
- Practicing in accordance with the NMC code of conduct and record-keeping guidelines.
- Supporting students and ensuring a safe environment for patients.
- Advocating for patients and their families.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential qualifications include:
- Registered Sick Children's Nurse or Midwife with active registration.
- Consideration for Registered Adult Nurses.
Desirable qualifications:
- Neonatal Life Support certification.
- Mentorship experience.
Experience in a clinical setting is essential, particularly in varied placements. Supporting students and budget awareness are advantageous.
