Overview

Medway NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting for a Specialty Doctor in Elderly Care Medicine who shares Medway NHS Foundation Trust's ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People. The successful candidate will work within the Unplanned and Integrated Care division and will be part of a team focused on the care of frail elderly patients.

Main Duties of the Job

The post holder will collaborate with 14 Consultant Physicians in Acute Frailty, delivering a range of hospital and community-based services. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing services in Acute Frailty and specialist clinics.
  • Participating in the Rapid Access Clinic for Elderly patients.
  • Working closely with community teams to assess and manage frail individuals.
  • Developing new models of care for frail elderly people.

Job Responsibilities

The Specialty Doctor will be involved in a well-established CESR program, overseen by the Clinical Director, facilitating professional development. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting Frailty ward rounds.
  • Supervising core trainees and registrars.
  • Engaging in clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Full GMC Registration.
  • MRCP or equivalent; additional degrees such as MD/PhD are desirable.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Understanding of Clinical Governance principles.
  • Experience in supervising trainees and non-medical professionals.

Experience

Essential

  • At least four years of full-time postgraduate training, including relevant specialty training.
  • Conducting Frailty ward rounds.
