Self Employed Male Support Worker
Location: Cambridgeshire, CB21
Salary: £20.00 per hour
Person Specification
I am looking for a confident and friendly male support worker to work on a self-employed basis as a second carer for an active gentleman. The candidate must possess a valid UK driver's license, as access to a car will be provided for taking the service user out. Experience in handling individuals with severe learning difficulties is advantageous, and experience in personal care is preferred. An enhanced DBS check is required.
Hours Required
Flexible hours, Monday - Friday, up to 7 hours a day.
About the Service User
The service user is a 44-year-old male with cerebral palsy. He is non-verbal but communicates through sounds and hand gestures. While he can walk, he requires mobility support in the form of hand/arm holding and a wheelchair at times. He needs assistance with eating, drinking, and using the toilet, which includes an element of personal care. Constant care and supervision are required, and he cannot be left unattended.
The service user enjoys being driven to various locations to people-watch, such as parks or town centers. It is essential that he is encouraged to get out of the car for short walks to maintain his mobility. He also enjoys swimming and is a fair swimmer; however, he requires close supervision in the pool.
Job Description
- Take the service user on drives and trips in the local area, ensuring his safety at all times.
- Support the service user with any personal care, eating, or drinking needs throughout the day.
- Report any changes in behavior or physical state to the service user's parents upon return to their home.
- Use the service user's vehicle, ensuring that any damage or maintenance issues are reported as needed.
