Overview

Applications are invited to join Shetland Islands Council's relief bank to provide support in Shetland Islands Council's schools, nurseries, and out of school clubs across Shetland. Members of the relief bank will be contacted on an ‘as and when required’ basis to provide cover, for example due to staff absence.

Summary of Responsibilities

Applicants should state in their application which of the following posts they are interested in:

  • Learning Support Worker
  • Learning Support Assistant
  • Practitioner - Early Learning & Childcare
  • Support Worker - Early Learning & Childcare (qualified)
  • Support Worker - Early Learning & Childcare (unqualified)
  • Play Practitioner
  • Play Support Worker

It would be helpful if applicants provide information on availability and which locations in Shetland they would be willing to work.

Assessment Process

Applications will be assessed against the criteria in the Person Specifications for the posts. Suitable applicants will be invited to interview and recruitment checks such as references, PVG Scheme membership, verification of qualifications, and proof of eligibility to work in the UK will be carried out before applicants are placed on the relief bank.

Additional Information

  • Rate of pay shown is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £1.4202.
  • Hours of work will be as and when required.
  • Preferred candidates will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update.
  • Posts in Early Learning & Childcare and Out of School Clubs will have to complete registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 6 months of the agreed start date.
  • A relocation package does not apply to this post.
  • Shetland Islands Council will pay interview expenses from within Shetland.
