Luton Borough Council have a fantastic opportunity within Luton Borough Council's Fostering Marketing, Recruitment and Assessment Team. You’ll be supporting the Deputy Team Manager and Team Manager to provide high quality fostering resources, recruiting, assessing, supervising, training and supporting foster carers in their placements.
As a Senior Practitioner, you’ll be promoting LBC values, qualities and standards to ensure a professional service aimed at achieving improved outcomes for children and young people placed with Luton Borough Council's foster carers, while working within the legislative and regulatory framework.
You’ll carry a caseload requiring a high level of professional skill and provide effective social work services within the Fostering Service, performing tasks related to the recruitment, assessment, support, and training of foster carers in accordance with legislation and good practice.
About you
Luton Borough Council is looking for someone with substantial post-qualifying experience, able to demonstrate high competence in fostering aligned with national quality standards. You should be capable of making sound professional judgments based on risk levels and demonstrate exceptional report writing skills, particularly for court reports.
Your strong communication skills will help you build effective relationships with customers, staff, and other professionals, enabling you to negotiate and influence others. Research capabilities and initiating change will be essential in this role.
In-depth knowledge of current legislation and best practice is required, along with a recognized professional qualification such as Dip SW or CQSW, and registration with Social Work England.
