This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic Physiotherapist to develop neurological physiotherapy skills, working across two teams: the spinal injuries therapy service and the Neuroscience Out-Patient Physiotherapy team within the Neuroscience and spinal care collaborative. The post holder will advance their knowledge in the respiratory and rehabilitation management of spinal injury patients and managing outpatients with neurological conditions.

Main Duties of the Job

  • The post holder will be based in two services:
    • The Golden Jubilee Regional Spinal Injury Centre at The James Cook University Hospital.
    • The Neuroscience Out-Patient Physiotherapy team across The James Cook University Hospital and Redcar Primary Care Hospital.

The teams are friendly and supportive, with mentorship available from Senior Specialist Physiotherapists. This position offers development in clinical and leadership skills, comprehensive training programmes, and active participation in audit and research.

Person Specification

Knowledge and Skills

  • Theoretical knowledge and applied clinical practice in a broad range of clinical areas.
  • In-depth knowledge of neurological conditions.
  • Demonstrates clinical reasoning skills.
  • Evidence of audit and participation in service development.
  • Good understanding of the NHS structure and policies.
  • Fluent in written and verbal English.
  • Knowledge of relevant national guidelines and standards.

Qualifications and Training

  • To hold a Diploma or Degree in Physiotherapy.
  • Registered as a Physiotherapist by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Committed to continuing professional development.

Experience

  • Varied post-graduate experience managing neurological conditions.
  • Evidence of supervising students or therapy assistants.
  • Experience managing patients with spinal cord injury.
  • Experience working within the NHS.
