Overview

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Physiotherapist to work at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The post is a Band 6 rotational position within the speciality of Orthopaedics. The successful applicant will join Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust's friendly teams and work between North Tyneside General Hospital, Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital at Cramlington, Wansbeck General Hospital, and Hexham General Hospital within the in-patient orthopaedic team.

Rotations will include elective orthopaedics at all sites across the trust, acute trauma, trauma rehabilitation, and work into the Bone Infection Unit. The successful candidate will be required to participate in the seven-day working and Bank Holiday rota for inpatient services. The successful candidate may also be required to contribute to the respiratory service at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, which includes an evening shadow on-call rota and occasional nightshift commitments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to student education (Student educator status is desirable).
  • Support the day-to-day leadership and organisation of the team.
  • Provide a high standard of physiotherapy care in each rotation within orthopaedics, including elective and trauma.
  • Assess, diagnose, and treat an independent clinical caseload within orthopaedics.
  • Work as part of the physiotherapy team under the guidance and support of more experienced senior physiotherapy staff.
  • Role model compassionate and inclusive leadership to foster a collective leadership culture within the trust.

Requirements:

  • Applicants must have experience as a Band 5 Physiotherapist in trauma and elective orthopaedics, elderly care, neurology, and respiratory experience.
  • NIV (Non-invasive ventilation) experience is advantageous as the Trust has a physiotherapy-led NIV service.
  • Applicants must demonstrate excellent communication skills with both the multidisciplinary team and peers.
  • Evidence of continued professional development demonstrating experience to support applications is essential.
  • Applicants will be expected to participate in Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust's 7-day working rota, which may include shifts until 8 pm.
  • A valid driving licence and either car ownership or a Trust personal lease vehicle are essential for this role. The Trust may consider making reasonable adjustments to enable a disabled person to undertake the role.

Shift Patterns and Working Hours:

The successful applicant will be expected to work a shift pattern which will include shifts until 8 pm. This is essential to meet the demands of the 7-day working rota. Some posts may not follow traditional Monday to Friday schedules as the Trust embraces full 7-day working.
