All About the Role
Based at Barrett Steel's Barrett Steel Shoreham Limited location, the primary purpose of this role is to ensure that customers’ orders are fulfilled to the highest standards in a fast-paced environment. The working hours for this position are Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 5 pm.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Picking computer-generated orders, involving repetitive handling and lifting of heavy and large items.
- Loading, cutting (using saws), and offloading steel.
- Ensuring all documentation is accurately processed to maintain stock integrity.
- Transferring stock to its designated location using an overhead crane.
- Assisting in the overall production and dispatch of customer orders.
- Maintaining a clean and tidy work area while adhering to high levels of health and safety standards.
- Being adaptable and flexible in approach to meet operational requirements.
- Operating machinery, only when adequately trained.

You should possess the passion, drive, and confidence to work collaboratively within Barrett Steel's business. Essential skills for this role include:
- Experience as a Warehouse Operative (prior experience in the steel industry is not essential as training will be provided).
- A flexible attitude, results-oriented mindset, and enjoyment in working as part of a team.
- Side-loader or fork-lift experience is desirable, though training will be provided.
- A strong commitment to health and safety practices.
- A valid driving license.
