Residential Children's home - Waking Night Support Worker

Due to the nature of the role, applicants need to have a high level of spoken and written English.

Preferably be on the Update System for DBS.

Wake night staff required, working with another waking night support.

This post provides support, assistance, and guidance to young people aged 13 to 18 living in a residential environment.

Experience with EBD & trauma is preferred, but full training is provided.

Must have experience in working in a children's home.

Must have NVQ level 3 in children and/or young people or equivalent!

Main duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the unit meets its Statements of Purpose and Policies and Procedures.
  • Take responsibility for the Health and Safety of the young people and the building in the absence of senior management.
  • Maintain a high standard of care, supporting and promoting independence for the young people.
  • Be conversant with current and relevant legislation.
  • Plan admission and discharge of young people ensuring they feel welcomed on admission.
  • Ensure individual needs are met and provide necessary support for emotional and physical development.
  • Contribute to and monitor records while ensuring confidentiality in record keeping.
  • Make young people aware of all complaint procedures.
  • Work in partnership with allocated social workers.
  • Promote planned care and activities for each young person.
  • Take responsibility for medication administration and related recording procedures.
  • Promote participation of young people in their care planning and living environment.
  • Liaise with external agencies regarding the needs of individual young people.
  • Support and supervise less experienced staff in their responsibilities.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent.

Pay: £12.50-£13.00 per hour.

Additional pay:

  • Performance bonus.

Schedule:

  • 10 hour shift.
  • 12 hour shift.
  • 8 hour shift.

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Gillingham: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required).

Licence/Certification:

  • NVQ LEVEL 3 in children and young people or above (required).

Work authorisation:

  • United Kingdom (required).
