Overview

Being a Senior Support Worker at SuperCare in SuperCare's Ilford home offers a fulfilling chance to positively influence the lives of vulnerable children and young people. In this role, you'll help them become more independent, succeed in their education, and grow personally through various enjoyable activities in a safe environment. You'll collaborate closely with young people, their families, social workers, and other organizations to ensure everyone's needs are addressed.

Main Duties:

  • Direct work with young people, key working and generally taking an active part in providing day-to-day care & support on a shift work basis.
  • Work in partnership with young people, their social worker, carers, and other relevant agencies.
  • Co-ordinate, monitor, and review Care Plans for all allocated young people preparing to transition to adulthood.
  • Maintain the establishment regarding health and safety and make decisions about individual young people's requests and behavior while on shift.
  • Handle administrative work and record-keeping associated with key working responsibilities.
  • Encourage young people to take responsibility for their own lives, involving them in planning and supporting them towards greater control.
  • Respond to safeguarding concerns and report them effectively.
  • Attend to the daily needs of young people, including bathing, feeding, and cooking.

Household Responsibilities:

  • Share in practical activities necessary to maintain the house.
  • Care for the fabric, equipment, and overall environment.
  • Be accountable for moneys allocated for specific purposes.
  • Report repairs and ensure necessary actions are taken.

Personal Development:

  • Act as a role model and guide for young people.
  • Stay updated on good practice to develop skills and knowledge according to a personal development plan.
  • Utilize regular professional supervision.
  • Report any malpractice or concerns to a line manager.

Additional Duties:

  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by management.
  • Work shifts including weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis.
  • Be flexible to work at other properties as directed by management.

Requirements to be successful:

  • Experience working with children/young people in an Ofsted environment (important).
  • Level 3 Diploma or above (essential).
  • Enhanced DBS Check and on the update service (essential).
  • Ability to drive.
  • Smart and agile to handle the daily needs and activities of young people.
