This is a rare opportunity for an experienced Toolmaker to join Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. in Newport! As a Toolmaker, you will play a crucial role in performing planned maintenance and breakdown repairs of injection mould tools, ensuring their optimal condition. In addition, you will provide machine shop support to site engineering and production functions, and manufacture spares and tooling to meet onsite moulds and production requirements.

As a Toolmaker, you will be responsible for efficiently repairing and servicing all moulds, jigs, fixtures, and extruder parts to meet production requirements and standards. You will also be instrumental in achieving flawless polish on purchased parts and moulds, in line with Thermo Fisher Scientific's world-class quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Efficient repair and servicing of all moulds, jigs, fixtures, and extruder parts
• Manufacture spare parts and ensure high standard of polish on purchased parts and moulds
• Inspect externally manufactured components and maintain sub-contracted moulds
• Carry out periodic PPM checks and assist in training other Production Technicians
• Maintain a clean and tidy workplace, adhere to health and safety policies

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 GCSE grade A-C
• Recognized Engineering Apprenticeship and formal engineering qualification
• 5 years of experience in a similar role with knowledge of mould tools
• Formal Indentured Apprenticeship
