Overview

Would you like to train as a High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapist? This is an exciting opportunity to train with the University of Reading and to join NHS Talking Therapies Hampshire, a highly regarded IAPT service within Hampshire.

Job Summary

NHS Talking Therapies Hampshire is a large, innovative, and transformational IAPT service. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is expanding the modalities of therapy Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust offer, providing opportunities for therapists to broaden their knowledge and skills into modalities other than CBT post-qualification.

Eligibility Criteria

The course at the University of Reading is a Level 2 accredited course with BABCP. Upon completion, trainees will meet the criteria to apply for provisional accreditation as a CBT therapist with the BABCP. To be considered for this post, you must meet the criteria for CBT training and have a BABCP-recognised professional background in mental health or related areas.

Main Duties of the Job

The successful candidates will undertake a 12-month training course at the University of Reading. During this time, you will be trained to provide High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy within a stepped care model for adults with common mental health problems, including:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety disorders

You will attend training at the University two days a week while managing a caseload of patients in the service for three days a week. Relocation may be necessary for this post.

Interview Process

Interviews will take place in early December. As part of the interview process, you will be expected to complete a CBT assessment role play and, if successful, attend a second interview on the same day.

Qualifications

Essential

  • A recorded/registered qualification at graduate level in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, arts therapy, or psychological therapy.
  • OR
  • Evidence of meeting the Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes (KSA) requirements of BABCP.
