Job Description:

Thermo Fisher Scientific is recruiting for a Technical Operator to join the team at Thermo Fisher Scientific's Swindon site. The role requires a commitment to working shifts (double days): 1 week - 7 am to 3 pm (Mon-Fri); 2 week - 3 pm to 10:45 pm (Mon-Fri), and back to week 1.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete all activities to effectively acquire and maintain a Bronze license Badge for Production areas (Grade C/D) access. Maintain the Bronze license through successful requalification every 2 years.
  • Set up and operation of non-aseptic and aseptic filling lines.
  • Preparation, testing and setup of multiple modules in readiness for manufacturing and fill/finish processes.
  • Formulation of Pharmaceuticals using custom manufacturing skids and vessel systems in compliance with batch manufacturing records.
  • Perform manufacturing and filling operational duties, including line clearance, In Process Checks (IPC), replacing components on-line, and completing batch documentation to ensure compliance with SOPs.
  • Set equipment to ensure minimum downtime, product damage, and waste, supporting machine start-up, changeovers, testing, and cleaning activities.
  • Cleaning and maintenance of the area and equipment.
  • Perform Clean In Place (CIP) and Steam In Place (SIP) activities using HMI controlled systems, and operate airlocks, autoclaves, and automated cleaning systems to ensure sterilization of equipment.
  • Utilize quality systems for GMP changes and report writing.
  • Conduct environmental monitoring in accordance with procedures.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Maths GCSE and English GCSE 4 (C) and above.
  • Basic IT user skills, including MS Office and Internet proficiency.
  • Experience in a regulated industry such as Pharmaceuticals, Food, Automotive, Make-Up, or Engineering is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Attention to detail.
  • Able to follow verbal and written instructions and production schedules.
  • Ability to stay focused and concentrate despite repetitive tasks.
  • Methodical approach.
  • Physically fit (able to lift 15kg and stand for extended periods).
