An exciting opportunity has arisen for individuals to undertake the role of Telephonist within the Contact Centre for Essex Police. In this role, you will often be the first point of contact the public have with Essex Police and as such, you will have excellent communication and personal skills.
Responsibilities
- Responding and re-routing urgent or emergency calls to Contact Centre Officers.
- Dealing with general enquiries from the public.
- Assisting with special Police campaigns/operations by setting up and handling calls in response to particular events or incidents.
- Liaising directly with other departments and officers.
- Researching Essex Police systems to generate emails and tasks.
Skills and Experience Requirements
- Ability to make sound decisions while working under pressure.
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to work with other teams, departments, and agencies.
- A belief in public service, focusing on what matters to the public.
- Ability to manage emotions when dealing with conflict.
- Sound IT skills.
Working Pattern and Salary
The working pattern covers shifts from 06:00 to 00:00, 7 days per week, with weekend availability required. This role attracts a shift allowance of 20% on top of the basic salary, with additional enhancements for hours worked on weekends. The successful candidate can expect incremental increases within this salary band, with the salary for this position rising to a maximum of £22,671.00.
