Overview

In Hertfordshire Constabulary you will be more than a number. We are a family friendly force who take pride in developing talented people. By virtue of our size, everyone who transfers into Hertfordshire has a much better chance of enjoying a diverse career, training, and promotion opportunities.

We pride ourselves in recognising and rewarding motivated people and will support you throughout your professional journey with us.

We currently have the following transferee and re-joiner vacancies:

  • Intervention (response)
  • Safer neighbourhood
  • Detective (crime and safeguarding)
  • Specialist roles (firearms, road policing and investigative units) – must be able to display current specialist role and skills

In addition to your salary, we also offer a southern eastern allowance of £3,000 and targeted variable payment of between £1,500 and £4,300 for detectives (constable and sergeant) – depending on unit.

Each transferee and re-joiner will have one-to-one contact with our Pathways Sergeant throughout the process who will manage your recruitment and deliver your onboarding programme.

The transfer process involves an application, virtual interview, medical, eyesight test, fitness test and vetting.

For constables in operational roles, we offer the T/DC programme which enables you to complete the PIP2 programme and become a detective.

We will be considering applications from officers at Sergeant and higher ranks however please note that vacancies for these ranks are limited and will be allocated to officers with exceptional sought-after skills.

Hertfordshire is also part of a tri-force alliance (with Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire), as well as the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit (ERSOU), both of which offer specialist opportunities within operations and investigations.

Bordering London, you will experience the professional challenge of investigating complex crime and dealing with serious community issues without spending endless hours on a train or stuck in traffic on motorways commuting to work. If quality of life is what you value, then Hertfordshire is the place to come.

Those who are currently within their probationary period are welcome to apply, however you must have this completed by your start date.

So, if you are a serving constable or detective looking for an opportunity to develop your skills as a uniform officer or to become a detective then do consider serving in a county force where your voice will be heard, and your professional contribution always appreciated.
