Overview

Introduction

DB Cargo UK are currently looking for a Technical Team Member to join Deutsche Bahn AG's Wheelshop function based at Deutsche Bahn AG's site in Stoke, working within the Non-Destructive Testing team to achieve Deutsche Bahn AG's weekly production plan.

You will have experience being hand on in mechanical engineering and able to follow and recognise procedures, record passes and failures in line with company policy.

The position offers a salary of £34,887.00 per annum. This position has both day and night shifts available and comes with additional allowances.

What will you be doing?

You will be able to demonstrate using non-destructive testing methods to confirm the integrity of Railway components in accordance with relevant standards.

  • You will carry out specific testing methods including magnetic particle inspection (MPI) and ultrasonic axle testing (UAT).
  • Following recognised procedures, and record passes and failures in line with company policy.
  • You will be able to work independently under your own initiative and remain self-motivated as well as working well within a team environment.
  • You will have COSHH awareness for all materials and substance use in the overhaul and manufacture of wheel sets.
  • Reporting of all incidents, accidents, and near misses within the workplace as a priority and ensure these are in line with regulations and policies.
  • You will be responsible for ensuring you work towards Company and Site safety Plan and Policy at all times.
  • Ensuring all Risk Assessments, COSHH assessments and Standard operating procedures are in date and adhered to.

  • You will be able to demonstrate that you have experience in mechanical engineering.
  • You have the ability to read and understand technical drawings and put them into practice.
  • You will be able to show excellent attention to detail, not just in your own work but also the rest of the teams to ensure quality is constant.
  • You will have strong communication skills and demonstrate that you can coordinate with team members, vendors, and management in a polite and professional manner.
  • You will have a minimum PCN level 1, MPI, pre and in-service inspection, using fixed and portable installations.
  • You will have a minimum PCN level 1, UAT, railway maintenance, H1.
