About The Service
The Specialist housing service is facing unprecedented challenges and is made up of a very large workforce. Cardiff Council is therefore recruiting for a Positive Behaviour Support to play a central part in training and workforce development for the service.
This Service provides accommodation, advice, and support to vulnerable groups such as families, young people, older persons, adults with learning disabilities, and single people with complex needs. The service is substantial and has a wide range of residential buildings across its broad portfolio. The services within the section run 24/7 365 days a year.
About the job
The role involves providing support to the managers and team members in positive behavioural support and specialist training identified by a service area. The role will require the following:
- Assume the role of specialist and advise and support the services in achieving the integrated Person-Centred Model of support.
- Be responsible for assessing the training and development needs in Positive Behaviour Support of Specialist Housing employees, to implement training strategies, and track training progress and impact.
- Design and deliver custom training programmes that meet the training and development needs of Specialist Housing teams.
- Deliver continuing support to services in restraint reduction and least restrictive practices.
This is a new role, which will evolve over time and provide the service with the required support.

Candidates should demonstrate integrity, have a good understanding of therapeutic approaches, and possess experience in delivering training. Being qualified in Positive Behaviour Management is essential.
This is an exciting opportunity, and Cardiff Council seek a variety of individuals from different working backgrounds to make a real difference. Proven experience of working with individuals with complex behaviours is required. An understanding of the issues faced by homeless individuals will be an advantage.
The working environment can be challenging, so the ability to remain calm under pressure will be beneficial. The role will require the successful candidate to support the management team with all aspects of the service 24/7 365 days a year.

- This is a Monday to Friday 8.30am – 4.30pm role with some flexibility in agreement with the line manager.
- There may be a need to work outside of the core hours if required.
