The Role

Are you looking for a challenge where you can make a difference to the residents of Bolton? Bolton Council is seeking a Welfare Rights Officer to provide comprehensive and specialist welfare benefits casework, advocacy, and tribunal representation to claimants.

You will work independently in a small and busy team, delivering benefits advice to help customers maximize their income. The main focus of your work will be representing customers at first tier tribunals and taking appropriate cases to the Upper Tribunal.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist advice on welfare benefits.
  • Represent customers in tribunal hearings.
  • Maintain detailed records and keep customers informed.
  • Work under pressure while managing multiple cases.

About You

You will have a detailed knowledge of social security benefits and legislation. You will be able to work under pressure to juggle demands and priorities, keeping customers informed and records up to date. You will enjoy helping vulnerable customers exercise their legal rights and entitlements.

Confident in using IT applications to support your casework, you will possess a high standard of written and verbal communication skills.
