Welsh Water is seeking interested applicants who are studying an Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Geography, or Engineering degree – that’s it! No prior experience needed.

Your Graduate scheme

Operations is a business area that has a large variety of different work streams with a number of skills needed, making no two days the same. This is a great opportunity for someone studying science or engineering that wants to use transferable skills on a practical level, working in a team dedicated to Environmental Performance. This Wastewater Operational Support internship role will see the successful candidate primarily spend time with the operational team but could also spend time with Biosolids and Science and Support as development. Project work is dependent on background and business need, but likely involves process improvements, business efficiency, and risk reduction linked to Environmental Assessment Performance.

Your Development: As a part of your programme, you may take part in a number of soft skills workshops, including:

• Managing Difficult Conversations

Additionally, you will be given the opportunity to work on a variety of projects with your fellow graduates. These will allow you to develop your interpersonal and leadership skills while collaborating with your peers. You will also have the chance to work on key business projects within your specialised field.

Good to know

Your internship will primarily be based in North East Wales. However, on occasions and with notice, you may be expected to travel to sites across the whole of Wales and its borders. The recruitment process is ongoing until 8th December. Should your application meet Welsh Water's criteria, you’ll be sent a short assessment to complete. The second stage of assessment will be an in-person assessment centre, likely taking place at offices near Chester between February and March 2025. Further information will be provided closer to the time.
