Overview

Job Summary

As a Young Persons Mentor, you will support, motivate, and guide children and young people, including gifted learners, helping them overcome barriers to achieving their full potential. You will collaborate with the Team Manager, Curriculum Lead, and other staff to identify the needs of individuals and plan effective support.

Barriers to learning may include:

  • Abuse
  • Challenging Behaviour
  • Emotional Issues
  • Lack of Confidence
  • Mental Health
  • Persistent Absence and Truancy
  • Punctuality

You may work one-on-one or in small groups, prioritizing learners facing multiple disadvantages. You'll assist children in practical skills like baking and budgeting, aligned with their Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs). Connections 2 Independence's structured timetable will help track progress and set clear expectations.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safeguarding of young people with excellent negotiation skills.
  • Support specified activities to meet the needs of children and young people.
  • Maintain high professional standards in interactions with all stakeholders.
  • Update Risk Assessments and support weekly educational activities.
  • Build confidence and self-esteem among young people.
  • Participate in team meetings and training as needed.
  • Manage appointments and maintain education calendars.
  • Prepare monthly reports for social workers on support provided.
  • Work collaboratively with statutory and voluntary agencies.
  • Promote a positive image of C2I in public interactions.

Working Conditions:

Experience Required: Support Worker: 1 year (required). Driving Licence (required).
